Verizon announced that it intends to launch its 5G Ultra Wideband network in more than 30 U.S. cities by the end of this year, including Indy.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n AT &T has 5G operating in Louisville in certain areas.\u00a0 Through a combination of technologies\u2014including millimeter waves, small cells , and fiber\u20145G\u00a0is capable of delivering\u00a0data rates as high as\u00a01\u00a0gigabit\u00a0per\u00a0second. That\u2019s 20x faster than current networks and comparable to the speeds you get from a wired connection like cable\u00a0or fiber optic internet service. That\u2019s a big deal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We don\u2019t yet know all the new innovations 5G will bring. That\u2019s part of what makes it so exciting. But it\u2019s already clear that it will launch new industries and fundamentally change how many existing businesses operate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 AR (augmented\nreality) and VR (virtual reality) technologies in classrooms, libraries, and\nmuseums will transform the way we learn\u2014and explore the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 By combining the\ndigital world with the real world in front of you, new technologies will merge\nonline and in-store experiences. Many experts predict that 5G will pave the way\nfor new developments in AR and VR technologies that could spur entire new\nindustries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Connected\nmachinery is making industries like manufacturing, construction, and mining\nsafer and more efficient.
